About Greg Whittaker

A Lowcountry, South Carolina local favorite, Greg Whittaker, is the alto sax player from the popular band Deas Guyz and as a featured artist is often called upon through his personal music ministry of playing in local churches. A retired Marine who was musically trained through the United States Marine Corps Music Program. After playing for the Marines and traveling around the world, he rose to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant and as the Enlisted Band Leader, at Parris Island, South Carolina. After his military service, he went on to perform as a featured musician with the SC Jazz All Stars, has recorded a collection of spiritual love songs with Ron Daise from Nickelodeon’s Gullah, Gullah Island and can also be seen playing in the feature film, The Notebook.

During his career, Greg has been fortunate to have performed a veritable plethora of musical styless, but none more important than that of gospel music. Being blessed with talent in playing both the alto and soprano saxophones, as well as the clarinet, he attributes every bit of what he has accomplished to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, of whom all blessings flow.

As the leader of his own band, Greg performs smooth jazz and gospel jazz concerts and is available for private and corporate events.
